Fun & Fashion for Plunket
Ohakune Plunket is to be the recipient of funds from this year's annual fashion parade, to be held at the Hot Lava Nightclub. Proceeds from 'the pre-ski season social event of the year' will go to providing child care development and health equipment for local infants. Although the venue and programme are similar to past events organisers have introduced lots of new highlights this year. Local fashion retailers - Collections, George Edwards and Ragtime along with the Junction Ski Shop will have their new season's fashions modelled by 'local talent'. Highlights this year will be Leatherbound Fashion Apparel from Hastings and a Kareoke competition. The Kareoke has proved to be very popular in Japan and worldwide in nightclubs. It involves impromptu singing to pre-recorded tapes of chart topping hits as well as classic songs. The audience is invited to take part in the competition, singing and acting the chorus of a popular song. Competitors will vie for a prize of accommodation at a New Zealand international hotel. Entries are being taken at the Junction Ski Shop or can be made on the night. A supper will be served at around 10.00pm and two complimentary drinks go with each ticket. There will also be raffles and spot prizes through the night. Tickets are available at $16.00 single from Junction Ski Shop, Ragtime, Collections and George Edwards. Hot Lava Nightclub Sounds will provide dancing music following the parade.
