Duck shooting opens soon

Opening of duckshooting is fast approaching and 1991 Game Licences are now available for sale. The adult fee is set at $50, and junior at $25.

The scason is eight weeks covering nine weekends from 4 May to 30 June inclusive. The licences which are valid for the whole of New Zealand are available in Raetihi at Wellington Cafe and Raetihi Hardware and Ohakune at Waimarino Wines and Ohakune Sports. Taranaki Fish and Game Council strongly recommends any hunter hunting in the Taranaki District to purchase a T aranaki licence especially if they are non resident. The revenue

collected from the game licence is used in the district of collection so local hunters need to persuade their city mates to buy their licences

here when they arrive. Out of the district hunters may if they find it more convenient send a cheque and details to Wanganui office PO Box 4152 Wanganui or any of the local sellers and a licence will be posted to them. The bag limit for the

Waimarino Sub-district of Taranaki Fish and Game District is 15 mallard, greys or shovellers plus 20 paradise shelduck. Hunters can also harvest two Canada geese per day. Councillors request hunters to sign their licences thus registering so they can vote in any Fish and Game elections. The legal hours of hunting are 6.30am to 6.15pm. The 6.30am start gives better day

light conditions thus enabling the hunter more positive identification of their target. Hunters are requested to read their licences so they know the conditions and rights under which they can legally hunt waterfowl. Follow safety gun laws, identify their targets, respect the properties on which they hunt and leave the celebrating until all firearms are safely out of harm's way.
