Runners take on the "Tin Man"

A small but enthusiastic field of competitors took part in the second . "Tin Man" multisport competition on Saturday 23 March. The competition, organised by Robert Brown, consisted of a 300 metre swim at the Raetihi pool, a 30km cycle around the triangle from Raetihi - Tohunga Road - Ohakune and back to Raetihi and finished with a six km run around the outskirts of Raetihi with the finish at the Rugby Gym. Not quite an 'iron man' event, hence the name 'Tin Man'. First home in the event was Wellingtonian Michael Wall, 1 hr 30.03 with James Renata 1 hr 47.24 second in the men's event. Tom Spry, 1 hr 46.06, won the veteran's section and

Nathan Swain lhr 54.11 in the children's. First woman home was Ainsley Swain 2hr 4.50 with Angela Rapana 2 hr 12.38 second. The winning team was Lyn Pope

swimming, Paul Dekker cycling and Grant Pope running with a time of lhr 32.29. Second was the team of Robert Brown and Billie Mc-, Donnell 2hr 5.38.
