Turoa cable delivery delays
Reticulating the Turoa Skifields should be completed on time in spite of a delay with cable deliveries. King Country Electric Power Board chief engineer Colin Martin said the cable should have been delivered at the end of February, but was delayed until the end of March. Work has continued on other r aspects of the project however and it was still possible to complete the job by May provided there were no more delays, he said. He reported to the March power board meeting that a contract has been let to a private firm to do the cable jointing. Meanwhile the installation of two 300kVa transformers on the Whakapapa skifield to facilitate snowmaking activities would be done by helicopter at the same time that the Turoa cable was laid, he said.
