polocrosse

Four teams entered at Kaitieke in the weekend. The first division team scored no wins but the local players to impress the selectors for the New Zealand interassociation championship teams were Jim Hyland, who showed out-standing control of the ball throughout all the games and Enid Windle who played excellent defence position. The second division won it's way through to the plate final with Har-

vey Godfrey and John Smith combining well together. Virginia Matthews from the number two position delivered a lot of ball to the goal scorer, but unfortunately Kakataiti went down to Temana in that game. Kelly Godfrey must be the most up and coming young player in the District. She combined well with the Marton players to make a successful chukka. She shows every effort to control her

pony and also pick the ball up confidently. Lyn Godfrey also played some excellent polocrosse in the third division, even though the team came through unsuccessfully. The teams were named for the championships held at Wairakei (Taupo) 12 and 13 April. In the Womans division local players named were Kay Nitschke, Enid Windle and Virginia Matthews. In the mens team, Paul Kinder, Jim Hyland, Harvey Godfrey and John Smith.
