Taumarunui Social welfare shift discussed
Shifting the boundaries so that the Waimarino falls into the Taumarunui area of the Department of Social Welfare should only occur if it will provide better service to the Waimarino people. That was the view of the Waimarino Community Board when the idea was put to them at their last meeting. The Board heard that the Taumarunui office had floated the idea following a department decision to downgrade the office. With the Waimarino included in their area the office could be more viable, the board heard.
