Bridge

There was an excellent turn-out of players at bridge on Wednesday 13 March with 22 players taking part including Bev Palmer, an exmember on holiday from the U.S. Bev and her husband David were club members in the early 1980's when David was the manager of Winstone's, and they are said to have been instrumental in getting most of the pre-, sent members interested in bridge.

There were a total of 24 boards played although the east-west pairs only played 20 boards, there being a phantom north-south on table two. The combination of Mark Hays and Tephany

Bennett did extremely well taking first place north-south with 60.94% i.e. 117 out of a possible 192. Twenty points behind in second place were Lauretta Eades and Jim Cranston with 50.52%.

Brian Eades and Rita Kaiwhare scored 88 out of a possible 160 to take first place east-west a percentage of 55%. Only five points behind with 51.89% were Lynn Brannigan and Betty Hammond.
