Bridge

The format for Ohakune Bridge Club evenings was changed on Wednesday 6 March to one which is to become a regular feature. Established partnerships have been dispensed with and each evening new partners will be selected by the director. It is hoped that this will improve both bidding techniques as well as the overall standard of play through the club. It will also give players more confidence when playing with some one other than their regular partner. The new pairing of Ron Martin and Lynn Brannigan scored a total of 81 points out of a possible 120 to take first place North-South with 67.50%. Second place with 57 points and 47.50% were Lauretta Eades and Sarah Hamlin. The competition between the East-west pairs was a lot closer with one point between first and second places. Brian Eades and Tephany Bennett scored 69 points or 57.50% of a possible 120 while one point behind were Jenny Mottram and Bob Tumataroa with 56.67%.
