• On behalf of my family, I wish to sincerely thank our many friends who gave Edith and ourselves such great support while we were nursing her at home during those last few weeks that she was with us. We wish to thank the Mayor, Garrick

Workman, the management and staff of the Ruapehu district Council and Councillors for giving Edith the opportunity of maintaining her involvement in the district affairs and administration of council. A special thank you to the District Health Nurses, especially Helen Fahey who was with us at the last, for your assistance, dedication and support during the last days. To Ted and Sue Kumeroa and the Fellowship of the Ohakune apostolic Church, thank you for your prayers. These we know were especially comforting to Edith and helped us all through a very difficult time. To Rex, Kay and Julie Oliver, thank you for being great friends and ensuring that we did not go short of something to eat. To all those who bought flowers to Brighten Edith's days or just called in to say 'hello', thank you for your thoughts and consideration. Edith has set us all an example of faith, determination and commitment which she would hope that we all would follow. Graeme Moore and family. Local talent • I am writing to you as I feel that your paper is not giving credit where credit is due. In this case it was in the recent Bulletin and I happened to read an article on polocrosse which I do not often read but as it was not with the sport section it caught my eye. It read how the (Kakatahi) team had done well in their events and at the bottom mentioned that one of the team members had gained entry to a New Zealand squad team to play Australia - I mean wow! Isn't this big stuff for the Waimarino? A New Zealand representative . The girl is probably hiding from embarrassment at present as the Bulletin failed to capitalise on what I imagine may be a lifetime ambition. Come on you lot, this area has obviously a bit of talent tucked in amongst our community - how about you use yours - giving them a fair go! (Signature illegible) Editor replies: Too right Mr Signature Illegible, there is heaps of talent around this place and thanks for putting us in that league. I agree with you that it would have been great to 'capitalise' on the bit of news you mentioned (congratulations, Kay!). But I would like to point ! out that with the Bulletin running on a skeleton staff (times are tough you know and yes, I can hear your violin) there are limits to what we can do with

news that we get on a Monday morning because that is the day we put the Bulletin together and most Bulletin news is gathered before Monday. Having said that I believe the Bulletin is now as good as its ever been , despite the odd delay in chasing such opportunities. As for more credit where it's due, watch for next week's Bulletin for the full story about our international polocrosse competitor.

Correction

Last week's Bulletin included a story about a polocrosse team which named the team as 'Waimarino'. We have been informed that this was incorrect and that the team is the Kakatahi Polocrosse Team.
