Twilight college athletics

School's in for longer at Ruapehu College on Wednesday so that parents can make it along to watch their children take part in the annual athletics meeting. School will start at midday but finish at the end of their twilight in-ter-whanau competition. Deputy principal Graham Parker said the idea came out of an end-of-year staff debriefing last year on how the school could better become a community school. He said the meeting will provide an opportunity for parents to go to the school under less formal circumstances. With more parents attending they hope to see more pupil participation in the athletics, said Mr Parker.
