Country picnic for National Park hall

A group of National Park residents have decided to renovate their town's community hall, tennis courts and school sports facilities. The first stage of the project is a fund-rais-ing old fashioned country picnic at the old air strip on Easter Sunday. The picnic will feature woodchopping, tug-of-war, portable shearing contest, highland bands, wild horse races, stag roaring contest, greasy pig and for the children sheep rides, lolly scrambles and games and competitions. Also planned is a licensed booth and hot food and drink. An evening hangi followed by country and western square dancing in the community hall will round off the day. The National Park Progressive Association will hold their annual general meeting prior to the day's festivities.
