During Ohakune Water debate #274* recently Mayor Workman, with just a hint of desparation and tiredriess in his voice, asked Bruce Thompson: "As deputy mayor of the old Ohakune Borough Council why didn't you put the treatment system in years ago!" "We tried, honestly we tried," said Bruce. Later in the discussion Bruce tried revenge, but missed Garrick and hit Doug Bennett. "Why, oh why didn't you fixed this Ruatiti Airstrip problem back in the county days?" "We tried, honestly we tried," said Doug. (*just a guess - some say the number is much higher).
