Erua access

The dispute over access to Erua Forest via a 'paper road' which passes through a farmer's property is continuing, the Waimarino Community Board heard last Thursday. Council general manager Cliff Houston said he had received a letter of complaint that the road, which while not formed is public property, had been "interfered with". He said the situation was most frustrating for the council officers. "If there was some good will and good relations between them (the two parties in the dispute - the farmer and the hunters who wish to use the road for access to the forest) it would be a lot easier to handle," said Mr Houston.
