Double anniversary celebration
Almost 80 people gathering at the Sunbeam on Wellington Anniversary weekend to celebrate the 25 th Wedding Anniversary of Lesley and Bill Peach and the 60th Wedding Anniversary of Bill's parents Daisy and Bill Peach. The weekend consisted of leisurely breakfasts, lunches and barbecues as family and friends caught up on news and family events. Telegrams arrived from nieces and nephews overseas and guests that could not make the anniversaries. Guests took the opportunity to visit various attractions in the
district. Some caught up on tramping in the bush and mountain etc. Two cakes were cut at the formal dinner on Saturday night and talking and celebrations continued until the early hours of Sunday morning. On Monday and Tuesday people dispersed mainly back to Gisborne but also to other parts of New Zealand. Bill Peach said the celebrations were much enjoyed by all and a common saying over the weekend was "what a great central place to meet and we must have another gathering within the next year or two".
