New Zealand Winter games wishes
The following letter was received by the RSBA giving best wishes for the NZ Winter Games • I would like to extend to the Organising committee of the New Zealand Winter Games my very best wishes and trust you have a successful inaugural event. The programme is both exciting and extensive and is a tremendous promotion of the Ruapehu region with its ideal venues and facilities. The Games will provide an opportunity for
competitors from a competitive and social background to mix and compete in a challenging situation. I know that the people from the King Country will enjoy hosting participants and providing a variety of sporting activities, cultural and social events. As well as being involved in the friendly sporting events, I hope competitors have the opportunity to experience the many tourist attractions that abound in the Ruapehu regiori. Hon J B Bolger Prime Minister
Warm thanks • To the people and businesses who donated money to heat the Ohakune Baths, myself, sisters and friends would like to thank you all. They are a lot warmer now and very enjoyable. Once again, thank you.

Raetihi news coverage • Once again, lots of photographs of an event held in Ohakune - remember the photographs of Ohakune's Christmas Carnival? Yes, they were printed in the Bulletin.
Remember the photographs of the Raetihi Carnival? No, 'cos there wasn't any. Plenty taken but none printed! Poor old Raetihi eh? Come on Bulletin, support Raetihi in its events - we do try & we do deserve some recognition don't we? Please? We do have a bit to offer here in Raetihi!! Support us and we'll support you! ! Smile! Say Cheese!" Regards, us Clowns. Buletin replies: You're absolutely right, Clowns!, Raetihi does deserve recognition (and we need
Raetihi's support!), The reason we hadn't published any photos of the Christmas Carnival was because the last Bulletin for 1990 was published before the carnival and by 15 January, Christmas seemed like old news - perhaps that wasn't the case? , (As we have space available this week - we've included a few pics from Raetihi's carnival - better late than never?) The same situation applied to Ohakune's Christmas Carnivals in past years which were
normally held on the last Saturday before Christmas, and after the last Bulletin of the year. Thus in those years they missed out on coverage while Raetihi's carnivals, which were a week earlier, did get coverage. On the subject of Raetihi news, we did have a reporter working hard for Raetihi - Donna McGrath. Unfortunately for us she is now busy
with new business ventures, so we are looking for someone to fill her shoes. Those interested in taking on the part-time Raetihi reporter's job , see the classifieds. In the mean time we would be more than happy to give Raetihi "heaps" more recognition. Just call us, 58 532, and we'll do our best to cover your event now.
