Arrests after accident
Four people were arrcsted after a two-car collision near the Waikato Stream bridge on the Dcscrt Road on Monday 7 January. The four wero travclling North in a Nissan car stolcn from Auckland on 5 January when they collided with a south-bound Pcugcot. Both cars were extcnsively damagcd. A woman passcngcr in the Nissan was treatcd at Taihape hospital for a kncc injury and discharged. Thrce of fivc people in the Nissan were charged with unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle and one was charged with unlawful conversion and theft. A charge of careless driving was to be laid, and a fifth passcngcr was not charged.
