Whakapapa lifts open

Ruapehu Alpine Lifts start up their Centennial Chair and Waterfall Express Chair this Saturday, the first day of their summer tourist operation, less than six weeks after they closed for skiing. The lifts are operated to provide easier access onto Mt Ruapehu and the upper alpine region for trampers and sightseers. Guided walks from the top of the chairs are available, operated in conjunction with the Department of Conservation.
