No fees for fund raisers

The Ruapehu District Council voted to waive application fees for organisations involved in raffle saies and fundraising at future shop days within the

boroughs. Councillor Bill Peach said that the council should forgo charging even a nominal fee. "It should be the council's contribution to people doing something for themselves," he said. General Manager Cliff Houston pointed out that around 70 fund-raising activities are held in the region each year and said the council would have to recognise the expense of processing costs involved, in their budgeting.
