Christmas carnival plans take shape

Ohakune retailers are wofking on plans for their Christmas Carnival and invite sports and community groups to book a stall space for the day. The event is set down for Saturday 15 December and groups can rent a stall, consisting of a trellis table, for $10 or can book a space and set up themselves for free. Goldfinch Street from the Clyde Street intersection will be closed off for the morning to make space for various activities which are on the drawing board, include a combined St John/ Fire Brigade demonstration, hay rides, sausage sizzle, Turoa Skifields lost property auction, mini bikes, Karate and Turoa Tumblers demonstrations, a buy sell or swap auction, gtiest performances, wheel changing race, carrot carving, funny face competition, mad hatters competition, lolly scramble and of course Father Christmas' visit. Bob Norling at Ohakune TV & Electrical can be contacted for bookings. He said Raetihi retailers are most welcome to join in with a stall on the day. A meeting of retailers to discuss carnival plans is to be held on Monday 19 November.
