PORS group to meet to start on station plans

The Preservation of Ohakune Railway Station (PORS) group is meeting on Wednesday night to discuss, and start finalising, plans for restoring and using the station building, following Railcorp's decision to hand over the station. The group hopes to form a committee "We want to get as many people from the community involved in this project as possible," said PORS spokesman Bob Norling. He said the meeting is open to all interested people. The group recently received its first cash donation towards the renovations, $500 from the Junction Ski Shop. The group also plans to meet sometime before Christmas with Community Employment Advisor Gary Towler and Heritage Trails representative Bronwyn Golder to discuss plans for the railway area. See Classads for details.
