Labour Weekend Pig Hunt results

A fine Labour Weekend brought hunters out of their dwellings to compete for the annual Waimarino Pig Hunters bore and sow competition. The weigh in on Labour Monday drew hundreds of hunters and supporters from as far as Waitomo to take the titles and prize money donated by DB Draught and Ruapehu Hotel. The categories included largest bore, sow, eel, opposums and tusk. Prize winners were: Pig Hunters Shoot: Heaviest boar 161 lbs - Trevor Addenbrooke, Trevor Murchie, Wait-
omo. Second - 158ibs, Hubba-Scott Browning, Kelly Baird, Kakatahi.Third - 1561b, Duncan Metekingi, Neville Dain. Heaviest Sow: 1171bs, Nick Sloan, M. Rolleston, C. McGill, Waimiha. Second equal: 1061bs - L. Katene, C. Hill, Blue, (Patea), Henry Mott, Tom Litt. Largest Eel: First Luke Cranston, second Reece Langdon, third equal Ricky Rhodes, Dianne Cranston. Biggest Opposum: First Reece Langdon, second Paul Callaghan, third Stanley Hawira. Biggest Tusk: HubbaScott Browning, Kelly Baird.
