Rangataua invaded!

The Army has been given consent to hold a military exercise in Rangataua from 15-18 November. No weapons firing will be involved in the exercise which will see about 40 participants including five posing as opposing forces. The exercise will involve street patrolling and vehicle checks with only exercise vehicles and willing resident's vehicles being checked.

Rangataua will be portrayed in the exercise as a town which supports the government but is an unsuspecting host to insurgent activity within the town and neighbouring forest. Residents are to be advised on details of the exercise and privacy of residents will be respected, the Army's School of Infantry, Waiouru, has advised. The Rangataua Hall has been offered for use in the exercise.
