Spring ski discounts offered
Turoa Skifield has announced a major spring skiing promotion prompted by this winter's abundant snowfalls. The company is publishing in daily newspapers and magazines a discount voucher giving midweek skiers $10 off lift passes and ski lessons during the month of October. Skiers are being offered a chance to win a summer skiing holiday in Canada and ski shops throughout the North Island are supporting the promotion with dis-
counts and deals on rental equipment and ski services. Turoa marketing manager Nancy van der Laan says the "Spring Fling" promotion is designed to bring skiers to the mountain during October to enjoy the sport at a time when the mountain has brilliant conditions with more snow than most local skiers can remember and continuing fresh falls of powder. "That's why we've come up with this programme of activities and discounts. Most people
don't realise that spring skiing can be superb with long sunny days and cairn weather, coupled with lots of fresh snow that will see us remain open right through until November." Seasonal staff have been warned that they're in for continued employment for at least eight more weeks before Turoa closes for summer. The ski area's discount vouchers are being published in all major North Island daily newspapers at the end of September and there will be an extensive radio promo-
tion. Ski shops are also taking part and they include Woody's in Auckland, the Ski Yer Heart Out chain stores at Auckland, Hamilton, Taupo and Wellington, Ohakune's Junction Ski Shop, Powderhorn Ski Bahn and Ski Shed shops, Gordons in Wellington, Ski & Underwater in Auckland, plus others yet to be confirmed Most of them are providing discounts of up to 50 per cent on rental equipment and free wax
jobs. The offer is available on all lift pass options and lessons and is limited to weekdays dur-
ing October and cannot be used in conjunction with any other voucher or discount.
