College skiing

From page 1 long time rivals Kings College of Auckland. The competition was very close this year as always, with the local team gaining 4th equal place after the first day's timed slalom event - three points behind first day leaders Queen Margaret College. By the end of the second day's dual slalom event, the College team had clawed its way to 89 points, just 1 point behind the leaders. Ten points separated the first 24 teams. Other local team results were: Wanganui Girls and Wanganui Collegiate 31st

equal (76 pts), Wanganui Boys 70th equal (65pts), Wanganui High School 84th (61pts), Taumarunui High School and Tongariro High School 88th equal (59pts). The Ruapehu College team did however win a trophy this year, the inaugural Xstacy trophy for the Top-Town' type competition on the third day. The whole three-day North Island Secondary Schools Skiing competition was a great success and all those involved deserve hearty congratulations, said organiser John Laurenson.
