Midge here to fire up

The Midge Marsden Band visits Ohakune soon as part of a tour to "get the band fired up" for the recording session for their new album. The LP will be a mix of original songs from local and overseas based writers as well as a couple of cover versions. It will be a "more upbeat funky rhythym and blues album, in tune with the blues of the '90s". Some of the writers are Hammond Gamble, Harry Lyon, Dave McArtney, Mike Farrell and Kevin Bailey. As for the show, Midge promises an exciting and new live show with many of the

new songs for the album included in the repertoire. A bonus is promised in the form of top New Zealand blues guitarist Mike Farrell. Midge's band includes Lynne Campbell on guitar and vocals (exWorking Holiday, the Back Door Blues Band, the Roger Fox Big Band), Ross McDermott

on bass guitar (When the Cat's Away incumbent, The New Zealand Blues Review), Chris Neilson on trumpet, keyboards, musical director (Gotham City Express, When the Cat's Away, Blues Review), Mike Farrell on guitar (Farelli Brothers), Steve Gardin on drums (State of the Harp by Brendan Power, drums).
