Raetihi dogs under control

BYDONNA MCGRATH Dogs scarpered from the streets of Raetihi last week as Raetihi's new dog ranger introduced himself to the regular dog roamers pacing Seddon Street. Neil McLean took over the position as Raetihi's dog ranger from Alan Snowball. His job does not include hydatids control, but concentrates more on the seizure of dogs that are not under direct control of their owners. His position gives him the power to impound any dog without a collar, impound any dogs roaming, destroy immediately any dog disturbing or worrying livestock. Neil's first week on the job has kept him

busy. He says he took up the position as dog ranger because he feels there is a need for dog control in Raetihi. He says also that there are untold unregistered dogs in the area.
