Raetihi takes Netball prize
The 1990 netball season competition ended on Saturday with Raetihi 1 becoming outright winners of the A Grade. At the start of the day Waiouru 1 and Raetihi 1 had even points , but Navy managed to beat Waiouru by one point to
put them out of sharing the trophy with Raetihi 1. Closing day for the senior teams will be held on Saturday 11 August starting 9.30 sharp. The senior prize giving will be at an end of
season dinner to be held on Thursday 16 August at 7pm at the Alpine Wine Bar and Restaurant. Anyone interested in going is asked to contact A. Schrier 58355 as soon as possible. Teams that have trophies to collect are asked to please attend. Primary school trophies were presented on Saturday by Mrs Kay McLean. Results were: Overall winners - Raetihi 1 with 16 points; runner-up Ohakune 1 with 14 points; 3rd equal Waiouru 1 and Raetihi 2
with 10 points. Trophies were presented to Waiouru 1 for sportsmanship and National Park for conduct. The event ended for the children with chips, iceblocks and a lolly scramble. Senior results from Saturday 4 August: Mg's 19 v Karioi 30; Ramblers 16 v Seekers 34; Raetihi 1 - 20 v Waiouru 2 - 11; Waiouru 1 - 34 v Navy 35; Raetihi 2 - 11 v Checkers 45; College 1 - 40 v Ruapehu 26; College 2 won by default against Pipiriki.
