Ruapehu's radio back from Sunday's blast

Ruapehu Radio is back on the air in Ohakune and Raetihi after the station's transmitter was "literally blown to bits" by strong gusts of wind last Saturday nightSunday morning. Radio New Zealand technicians worked around the clock to fix the transmitter, which is now providing even better reception, said station manager Chris Reid. He said it was an unfortunate occurrence but that he is very happy with the clear reception people are now getting. Full transmission was restored at 2pm on Wednesday.
