No cash for golf
Councillors dechned a request for sponsorship for the Manson Cup golf tournament between the Taumarunui and Waimarino Golf clubs. The council accepted the view that the sponsorship would be seen to benefit a small sector of the community. Cr Bobby Vine suggested if the tournament were to be a district wide one, which the proposers claimed, it should include the Waiouru club. Following the decision Mayor Workman said he would personally provide $100 in sponsorship as did Cr Lawson and Cr Peach.
