Rates arrears worry council

The level of outstanding rates for the Ruapehu District is of great concern to the council. Just 82.9 per cent of the Transition Quarter rates, or $1.85 million has been collected and only $214,000 of the $1,353 million arrears outstanding as at 1 April 1990.

Councillors suggested cutting non-ratepayers' water off. Council officers have

suggested the introduction of incentives to ratepayers to pay on time be examined.
