Chiller rent too much
Game buyer representative Des McFadyen is still working on siting his game chiller, with all ideas so far being turned down by Ihe council and their suggestion proving too
expensive. He recently applied to site the chiller near Dekker Machinery, . which would. have been ideal in terms of security, but the council turned down the applica-
tion. The council has offered to site the chiller behind the council offices in Raetihi but want $25 a week in rent, which Mr McFadyen said was too much. He said
the cost would have to be passed on to deer hunters which they would not be able to pay. The chiller is about two metres square with a small concrete pad in front. It serves about 60 to 70 hunters who use the Waimarino area and about two tonnes of game per month pass through the chiller. The Waimarino Community Board is investigating the setting of the chiller site rental.
