Men injured in crossing crash

The Waimarino Rescue Trust helicopter fle.w three patients to Palmerston North Hospital last Thursday after a head-on collision at the State Highway One railway crossing south of Waiouru. A 16 year old Wellington youth was driving a 1984 Mazda unlawfully taken from Turangi, reaching speeds of 160km/h. He misjudged a corner and drove into the path of a north bound car. He suffered minor injuries in the crash, which left both cars extensively damaged and two middleaged men in the other car seriously injured. The youth has been charged with unlawfully taking the vehicle,

careless driving causing injury and theft.
