Raetihi viceregal visit next week

Raetihi hosts the Governor General the Reverend Sir Paul Reeves and Lady Reeves next week in a two day visit to the town.

They are to arrive on Thursday 12 July at Waiouru to be met by the Mayor and his wife, Garrick and Maureen Workman and Lieutenant Commander Mike J Millar and his wife. From their they fly to Pipiriki School for a concert, then to Raetihi Primary School. A Maori welcome led by Mr Mark Cribb starts their visit to the school. From there they go to the Raetihi Hotel to be met by their hosts Ray and Iris Parr and later visit Raetihi Marae. On Friday they visit Ruapehu College, Maungarongo Marae, Turoa Skifields, then retum to Raetihi where the Raetihi Promotions As-

sociation have activities organised. Later a walk about in Seddon Street will take place. From there Sir Paul will meet the Rev Bob Peck and members of the Anglican Parish, the Raetihi works depot of the Ruapehu District Council for "a beer with the boys". Lady Reeves will visit Waimarino Hospital and meet Raetihi pensioners at the hotel. On Friday night a civic reception is to be held at the RSA Hall, then they visit the Mayor and mayoress' home. They leave for Auckland on Saturday morning.
