Paying for Sewerage
I reflect back to approximately 12 months ago when the Rangataua sewerage scheme was in full swing. I remember council was crying out for money from the Rangataua residents to aid them in their work until
the government subsidy came through. On the 21 August 1989 I received a letter from council giving me a quote on what it was going to cost me for my share of the sewerage and was told that an account would be sent out shortly after. After waiting about three or four months and hearing nothing I approached Mr Murrihy (District Manager at the time) and was assured that an account would be sent out in the near future. As it is now another six or seven months waiting for an account or hearing something I've come to two conclusions. 1 . That council do not need the money now, which would be greatly appreciated by one and all in Rangataua or 2. There may be a more devious reason, such as charging us more than our original quote or maybe they are going to tack extra interest on all outstanding accounts. If, as I suspect, it is the latter I for one and hope all other Rangataua" ratepayers will tell the Ruapehu Council to go and get "stuffed" and only pay what they were quoted to pay originally at the beginning. I hope to get some satisfaction soon. Tom Spry
