Smoking Schools

Re: your recent article on smoke free week. During this week I had to visit several local school and I was horrified to see quite a few teachers smoking a lot in the staffrooms. I am not suggesting that teachers be deprived of their right to smoke but what happened to the old idea of teachers setting an example? Surely with the awful statistics about young people smoking it would be a good idea if there was no smoking at all at schools (by both adults and children!!.) I hope when the law regarding smoke-free work places comes into effect the smoking teachers won't go into the playground to smoke - that would be even worse. Could we have no smoking in schools. I believe it is the policy at Ruapehu College - so it can be done. Passive Smoker
