Station
The Ohakune Railway Station came up for discussion by the Waimarino Community Board last week. It was agreed that the state the boarded up building is in at present, it looks as if it needs a demolition order, relief being felt that the Railways Corporation was showing interest in helping a group of local people to renovate it to a reasonable standard. Legally, only a platform is required for passengers at a station, the board heard. It was decided to hold a public meeting, chaired by Colin Webb, at the Council Chambers, to brainstorm ideas about the future of the railway station. This will be held on Saturday 23 June at 10am.
