Lost sheep
Can anyone throw any light on the disappearance of a pet sheep, hogget, from the corner of Goldfinch Street and Shannon Street on Wednesday 16 May? An extensive search that afternoon failed to find any trace of it. A week later I was told that it had been seen tied to a telegraph pole in Wye Street sometime that day but to date I have been unable to find it. A short length of blue rope hung from it's white collar. I hope it is not now residing in some-one's freezer. A few months back I lost a Suffolk hogget from the lower end of Ti Kouka Place and in my own mind I'm sure this was appropriated for the freezer as it was not quiet and could not be called a pet. The recent one would have followed anyone. Most residents are honest and helpful and if an animal gets lost (mine or anyone else's) in town I frequently get a phone call, but after the disappearance of two sheep within a few months my faith in human nature is sliding. If anyone knows the whereabouts of either I'd be glad to hear from them.
