More dead ducks please

The King Country Electric Power Board wants more swans shot. The board has a problem, especially in its Tu-rangi-Tokaanu area, with bird strikes on power lines causing blackouts. The line configuration is being altered to minimize the risk but hunters are asked to put more effort into the "swan harvest". Turangi Conservation Officer Cam Speedy said the local swan population is over 2000 and could sustain a much larger harvest than at present. At present there is no daily limit on swans.
