NEW SHOPPING COMPLEX

A new shopping complex is to be built on a section near Waiouru' s Playcentre and skating rink, adjacent to the present Waiouru Community Centre. Soil testing of the area starts in July, with the earliest completion date for the complex being February 1991. There has already been some interest generated by the community, with a number of people enquiring about shop rental prices, and the number of shops may have to be increased if the demand is there. The complex will also encourage an already increasing trend for people to live and work in Waiouru permanently. There is definite interest in the subdivision, especially now that civilianisation of many army jobs is taking place. An example of this is the centralisation of stores into one Q Store, where 15 jobs will be civilianised.
