COMMONWEALTH FLORIST

Raetihi florist Jocelyn Lilburn has just returned after four days of bundling up flowers into posies, and bowls and tying 'millions' of red and yellow bows, for commonwealth games competitors in Auckland. Jocelyn's voluntary work was between eight am and six pm as part of a two-part shift of 12 to 14 florists. Jocelyn along with Interflora worked off site at the Turners and Growers building in Auckland central. She unfortunately never got to enjoy the atmosphere of the games or take part in giving the 2000 commonwealth competitors their bowls of flowers. She adds that the florists were the workers of the hive, working with more than $40,000 worth of flowers and greenery. Jocelyn feels that all the Interflora florists won gold!
