All pay expenses

I am surprised that you haven't had other letters on this matter - the matter of a District Council employee using a council car to go to and from Ohakune to Taumarunui every day. It is absolutely ridiculous - if the employee doesn't want to shift to Taumarunui the person shouldgive up the job. What does it cost ratepayers in terms of tyres, oil, maintenance etc? This particular employee has had a very good trot out of the last two coun-

cils - the person has used the council car extensively for personal business - the car is often seen in Wanganui and even in Auckland and Hawkes Bay. When I got access to council accounts last year I couldn't fmd anywhere a mention of reimbursing coimcil for wear and tear - and I wonder about the petrol? People in Ohakune are very aware andresentful of this stupid expensive situation and it is often raised at social gatherings.

What straightforward (no gobble-gook) answer can you find for this one Mr Houston and Mr Mayor?

Brassed. off
