CARAVANERS' WEEKEND CAMP AT OHAKUNE

Ohakune played host to 14 River City Caravan Club vans and their occupants over the weekend. The vans were parked at the Ohakune rugby grounds for the weekend, which was organised as a get-together for the club members. Activities the group were considering for the weekend included a visit to Titoki Point Gardens, bush walks, Whakapapa chairlift rides and bungy jumping. Ohakune member Betty Murdie said one negative aspect about the weekend was the council's unwillingness to negotiate a block booking price for the group for staying at the Moore Street camp. She said the best the council would do was a 10 per cent discount whereas almost all other camps the club uses offer much cheaper rates for club rallies.
