RUAPEHU TELEVISION PLANS STILL ALIVE

Plans for New Zealand's first community television channel for the Ruapehu District have not been abandoned. Waiouru retired businessman Gordon Mottram is reported to be still working on his idea, which he says is based on Canadian operations that serve populations of about 5000 people. He was reported in Saturday's Wanganui Chronicle as saying he hopes the station will be operating by June or July 1990 and that he is looking now at staffing, accommodatio'n.equipment and style of proerammes.
