Float parade part of 1990 A & P show for Waimarino
Start planning your float now for the Waimarino 1990 A&P Show float parade on 17 February 1990. The last time a float parade was part of the
Waimarino A&P Show was in the 1960's and was reported to be a great success then. This time there will be prize money up for grabs - $400 for first if
entries received warrant it. Floats should depict a 1990 commemoration theme. One of the show organisers, Bernice Frost, said clubs, organisations and businesses will soon be sent details so they can start planning their entry. Other activities planned for the show include a go-cart demonstration from Taumarunui Go-carters; the usual garden, handcraft and cooking in the produce shed; the sheep section concentrates on fat lambs and farmers' classes (with the stud classes cut); there will be more show-hunter classes in
the horse section with the round-the-ring jumping dropped; cattle classes are becoming popular, with breeders for whom no suitable class is represented being encouraged to bring their animals for display. Stalls for all local people will still be one of the main parts of the show and people, no matter what their interest is, are urged to take it to the show. The Sunday of the meeting sees shearing competitions, with horse jumping. Many of the stalls and sideshows will remain for the two days.
