Plunket works for mothers
Concerned mothers in the Waiouru community have asked Plunket Nurse Libby Tuthill why mothers with young babies do not use the services provided by the community plunket nurse.
Mothers who have used the services of Libby Tuthill say they have found the plunket services extremely useful and they encourage other mothers with new born and young babies to use the
Plunket service. Community Plunket nurse Libby Tuthill informed the Empty Page last week that a ten week parenthood programme would commence on Wednesday 13 December at the
Waiouru community health rooms. The programme is designed so that mothers can meet each other on a regular basis and share parenthood together. It also gives mothers hands on experience with their newly born with regards to baby massages to child development in their first year. The first six weeks of the parenthood programme are: Week 1, an introduction session for
mothers; Week 2, Massaging technique; Week 3, Solids introduction; Week 4, Child development in the first year; Week 5, Learning Cardio Pulmonary Resusitation (CPR); Week 6, Dental care and co-ordination. Beside organising the programme, Libby Tuthill has teamed up with the Public Health Nurse Alison Callow for another Well Women's Clinic, again to be held
at the health rooms on Tuesday 12 December from 10am to 4pm. Through appointment only women will be given free blood pressure checks, blood sugar level, breast examination and cervical smears. Also information will be available on contraception, sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) and breast self examination. For more information about the Well Women's Clinic contact Libby Tuthill on 56596 or Alison Callow on 56-542.
