Muddy waters still in Ohakune, 1999?
The letter from the Council GM of 28 November says only two things: Under the new set up engineering advice may be more readily avail-
able. Cheap housing rates and free vehicles in the past pales into insignificant alongside our new budget allowances.
Let us wait to see how this is obscured in the proposals. With regard to the unavailabilty of the previous manager, I personally found the only way to see him was to throw stones at his office, I have waited two years for an adjacent section rates rebate and only after throwing stones was I able to get an agreement from him, mind you that is seven months ago, you guessed it, no result yet. If anyone is still suffering from the delusion that changing titles will change the ratio of talk to action, think again. I have $50 that says the water supply will remain muddy till 1999 and that part of Thames Street remains unsealed 'till 2010. The only thing
ratepayers will notice will be, more council meetings at $1000$1500 a pop, many more pontifical words, far less access to the many managers, much more revenue collection and no visible signs of Mr Murrihy.

P.S. The rates will rise by 12 per cent plus, partly to pay for management salary increases and perks.
