ONE THOUSAND HOUR RUNNER RUNS 100 MILES
Among the 2000 runners in Saturday's around the mountain relay was an Australian Army contingent from Canberra. The team consisted of a one 10 x 10 team; one 4 x 25 team; one 2 x 50 team. Last of all was WOl Trevor Harris who entered in the 100 mile section of the relay. Trevor is no stranger to running - he holds the world record for the 1000 hour run which was run in Australia early this year. WOl Harris had to run a 2.6 kilometre circuit every hour and in a 24 hour period he only rested four hours. The whole run took a total of six weeks to complete and Harris exhausted a large group of supporters who ran with him during his world record run. Apart from competing in the 100 mile section of the relay, Trevor Harris was also part of the Australian 2 x 50 mile team. Trevor Harris ran the first 50 miles around the mountain then finished the last 50 miles with his team mate.
