Carnival for Xmas
With stores galore, children shows, competitions and half price haircuts organisers of Waiouru' s first ever family Christmas carnival will be held on Saturday 25 November at the Waiouru Community Centre.
The idea for the Christmas carnival is a brain child of mayor Garrick Workman, who asked the Waiouru business community to
support the carnival venture. The organisers Sue Bradley, Colin Turner and Captain Peter Pitts have been overwhelmed with the response to date not only "from businesses but from the Waiouru Camp and are working long hours in preparation for a successful weekend. Everyone in the working committee hopes that the Christmas carnival will become an annual event with the inclusion of a street parade. However this will be considered after this weekend's carnival. Children should be happy with the many attractions taking place on Saturday from a Christmas tree decorat-
ing competition in the morning to movies in the afternoon and, throughout the day, Santa giving away
gifts. For the parents there will be a variety of stalls to cater foi everyone's taste. Fund raising will also be a feature on the day with the selling oi tickets for a Christmas hamper and a stamp collection with the proceeds going towards Turnpage5

The Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess along with the 'Moawhango Surf Club' have kindly showed their support by sponsoring some of the attractions. This carnival is for the community and the organisers have urged everyone to get behind the festivities and enjoy what is hoped to be an exciting weekend.
