Mud for gardens

It was with great interest that I read the ad

in last week's paper from Mr Olsen, wanting to give away the excellent mud that comes out of our Ohakune water supply. He may not be aware of the reasons for this extra benefit for the people of Ohakune. Apparently it has been decided by the council works staff to , grow the weeds and grass in Ohakune to | such a height that they would hide all the rubbish that was not being picked up and to get the extra dirt needed the idea was to stop flushing the water mains either totally or in the wrong places. The idea is obviously working, because when you take a trip to Raetihi you will find they are suffering from well maintained grass verges, well trimmed hedges etc. I really don't think it's fair in these days of equality, that a part of the Waimarino should have so much time lavished on it by the council staff as they are doing to Ohakune.
