William Te Hore, 35, unemployed of Raetihi, pleaded guilty to receiving a .22 calibre TOZ rifle valued at $300 knowing it to have been stolen. Court heard how defendant had agreed to look after the rifle for a friend while living in Hawkes Bay. When his friend did not claim the gun defendant had brought it with him to Raetihi. In convicting and fining defendant $300 and ordering him to pay $65 court costs, Judge Ryan said there appeared to be no more
sinister motive involved in the offence. Counsel: Paul Brown.
